Greater Portland Inc and the Greater Portland Ambassadors were welcomed to the monthly meeting of the Metropolitan Mayors Consortium on Thursday, October 26, for a chance to meet face to face with the gathering of local elected officials.

The Metropolitan Mayors Consortium is made up of 25 mayors from cities large and small across the Greater Portland region. It meets once a month behind closed doors to discuss regional priorities in a candid manor. It was recently recognized for its commitment to regional collaboration at the 2017 Annual Economic Summit as the recipient of the 2017 Uniting Regionally Award.

At its October meeting the Consortium opened its doors to Greater Portland Ambassadors to participate and engage in a dialogue on regional matters. After a brief welcome by GPI President and CEO Janet LaBar, the conversation quickly pivoted to a topic on many people's mind: transportation. Because most long-term transportation plans affect more than one community, it was a chance for the public and private sectors to come together to discuss their priorities for the future of our region.

Attendees praised the meeting as a great step in continuing to cooperate on issues facing all citizens of the region.
